I chose this question because this year is the 100th anniversary of Vimy Ridge and we have a Vimy Oak planted right here in Waterdown.
Vimy Ridge helped awaken Canadian nationalism but it also played a huge role in splitting the politics of Canada for decades to come.
I wanted to further my knowledge of the many ways that the battle of Vimy effected the community that I live in.
My favourite part of Canadian History is looking at how far we have come and how we have changed to accept many different kinds of people.
This question resonated with me as a Canadian of non-British descent.
