Historical Thinking: Nanaimo Then and Now

Students will engage in an activity that will activate their historical thinking abilities. The lessons context takes place in Nanaimo, BC, where all of the students reside. The lesson is important because before students begin to learn about BC, Canada and the world at large, they need to establish an understanding of their home and their community. We believe it is important to have an understanding of community in a present context, as well as a historic context.
