The Voice of Women’s Liberation

My masters thesis focuses on women's liberation during the 1970s, and I present a micro-history of women students and their liberation at the University of Guelph. I explore how women endeavored to be a part of their own liberation on campus and how they took part in the wider women's movement. I collected primary research from the campus newspaper, The Ontarion, as this is where we can trace the voice of women students. I made a timeline of their activities, and their participation in the women's movement from the collected articles. The women students from the 1960s and 1970s created liberated spaces for women that are still found today at the University of Guelph. The voices of Canadian women are an essential part of women's liberation history, and the crucial roles played by women students in the fight for liberation must not be overlooked.
