“We Must Do Our Part to Help Bring Him Home”

This essay looks at Canadian women's motivations for enlisting in one of the Canadian military services that opened up for women during the Second World War. Specifically, it argues that the previous enlistment of male family members, close friends, and spouses acted as a powerful motivating factor for women who joined themselves.
