The Japanese Canadian Experience In World War II

What moments in Canadian history have influenced my identity? World War II plays a large part in my identity and has guided and shaped the person I’ve become in ways I’m just beginning to understand. As I look back on my family history, I think my Canadian identity is tied to the birthplace of my grandmother, which is Hiroshima. She traveled to Canada to join her family, when she was just 25 she was sent to an internment camp in British Columbia and finally in 1947 she was able to leave the camp to start a new life in Scarborough.
