The Squamish Nation and Reconciliation

From a perch high above the ground, the trickster Raven watched through his big black eyes as the Squamish peoples wove a culture and society rich in tradition, identity, and strength. Descendants of the Coast Salish people, this nation inhabits unceded lands with a strong history full of both prosperity and hardship. Many changes in their lives and traditions occurred during European contact, and with this, much effort is needed to establish a vibrant nation with a vibrant future. To push through and heal wounds of the past, we must make advances in education, awareness and knowledge. Giving more voice to the people who were intruded upon must be present in order to reach true reconciliation.
