The Root of Reconciliation

In conclusion, treaty signings among Indigenous peoples under Sir John A. MacDonald’s leadership have forced numerous First Nations such as the Tsuut’ina, to endure life-long trauma. To ensure Canadians are more aware of this gruesome history regarding residential schools and reserves, we must encourage active participation in reconciliation. Through further integrating traditional restorative justice into the current criminal justice system, Indigenous and nonIndigenous individuals will gain a sense of unity through acknowledging historic policies.
