The Vote: Women's Fight to Rights

The years of 1914-1916 showcase a marvelous time in Canadian history, as it was the start of when women broke out of traditional roles and received well deserved equality to the male counterpart. Without the persuasion and persistence suffrage received, women’s enfranchisement would merely be an idea lost in the vast mind. Although only three provinces granted the vote by 1916, it established a norm that the rest of Canada soon followed. Manitoba, Saskatchewan, and Alberta were the first to rise towards the adamant fight for the vote. The factors leading up to this triumph included political influence, events coordinated by women's organizations, and three heroic suffragists.
