Chinese Versus British Immigration To Canada

In the late 19th and early 20th century, discriminatory Canadian opinions and immigration policies led to the Chinese and British immigrant groups undergoing vastly different experiences, yet influencing the country in important ways. Though the circumstances leading to their immigration were similar, the Chinese were received with undeserved societal and institutional racism while the British were privileged because of their ethnicity. Despite these differences, the impact of both groups proved essential in creating Canadian culture as it exists today.
