Pluralism: The true achievement of our History

History is not merely the feats of war; rather, it encompasses the post-conflict achievements that show what our country has learned from the past. The belief in change and a movement towards it is as historically important as the events we commemorate. Canada has made history through its endeavours towards a pluralistic society, “a society in which members of diverse ethnic, racial, religious, and social groups maintain their traditions and special interests while working towards the nation's unity”. The newly surfaced values of pluralism throughout Canadian history deserve recognition as a historical achievement, something possible by recognizing the Centre for Pluralism in Ottawa as a National historic site.
