An Innovative Chapter Fades

Canada’s birth was neither a simple nor immediate affair due to the sheer diversity of contributions the maturing colony received. Canada was not founded by any specific individual or individuals. Instead, the nation evolved over hundreds of years under the influence of ideas, conflicts, and trade, to form a unique and ever-changing identity. From the arrival of the first European settlers to the signing of the British North America Act in 1867, the formation of Canada was an amalgamation of efforts from countless groups, including First Nations... All of these groups were vital contributors to the culture, economy, and politics of the growing colony. Although LaFontaine and Baldwin were among the valuable political contributors, they were ultimately a small portion of overall individuals who helped Canada form its identity.
