Reconciliation and Historical Injustice

The spirit of Reconciliation lies not in only apologizing for the horrible historical injustices but in taking concrete action to improve this critical societal issue. In order to achieve this goal, a collective effort from all Canadian citizens is needed to revitalize the relationship between Aboriginal peoples and Canadian society at large. The purpose of reconciliation is to acknowledge the harm and devastating impact that was inflicted on the Aboriginal people and to improve the relationship between Aboriginal people and Non-Aboriginal people.  It is crucial for every citizen in Canada to learn about the history and heartbreaking experiences that Aboriginal people suffered through in the past and to realize the contemporary issues that are prevalent in Aboriginal communities today.
