A New National Historic Site for Canada

Canada’s history comes a long way, and over the years include unique achievements that accompany its journey. But among the eulogized achievements are blemishes that are dovetailed and degrades the country’s attainments. With the arrival of the Europeans, the lives of First Nations have been greatly impacted. Among the greatest factors that have caused the impact are residential schools. By preserving existing residential schools as national historic sites for Canada, these sites can serve as physical evidence and could be used to raise awareness and encourage support for the First Nations cause. A historical site contributes to the healing process and helps honour those whose lives have been impacted by residential schools.
