Where Land Meets Sea

I am born of two nations – Canada and Vietnam. I live a strangely mixed life, speaking in English over Vietnamese foods and learning in a Canadian school whilst fulfilling Vietnamese values. There is no story closer to me than the fall of my motherland and the rescue of my people, made possible by Canada’s unique stance on immigration and humanitarian crisis. It’s a stance chiseled by momentous policy advances and tested by the trials of the modern world. The Vietnamese Boat People crisis was the most influential event to my identity, as it tested the legislation of its day and revealed the compassion essential to the Canadian ideals I have embraced.

I'm immensely proud of being Vietnamese, even more so of being Canadian and wanted to share the story that made it so.
