Let The Stream Run Fast

Years after Manitoba, Saskatchewan, and Alberta became the first provinces in Canada to give women the right to vote in provincial elections, Nellie McClung wrote her classic autobiography titled, The Stream Runs Fast, detailing her contributions to the women’s suffrage movement. A combination of factors were at play over the course of decades to push Manitoba, Saskatchewan, and Alberta to become the leading provinces in the movement, however, the three that proved to be most significant were the effects of new technology, the Industrial Revolution, and Sifton’s unique immigration campaign.
