How Canada Fulfilled Laurier's Prediction

Canada’s international reputation, its development into an equal society, and its booming economy have all proven that Laurier was right in his claim that Canada would fill the 20th century. Through Canada’s strength during the First and Second World Wars, as well as Pearson’s initiative during the Suez Crisis, Canada had become a notable peacekeeping country. Furthermore, through the strides towards gender equality, multiculturalism, and the establishment of the Charter of Rights and Freedoms, Canada had become a “mosaic” and a country that treated every citizen as an equal. Finally, through the booming of new sectors (more so automobile production), rapid industrialization and trade agreements, the Canadian economy strengthened significantly and paved way for future economic growth. Throughout the 21st century, Canada should continue this tradition and be ever vigilant to improve the lives of future Canadians. Canada had proven its potential as a great nation, but at the end of the day, it was Laurier that set the goal for Canada to achieve.

I really like learning about how the country became independent from Britain and how it shaped its own national identity.
