John Francis Moore

His wife Malvina Moore and three daughters moved back to Ottawa, where they previously lived, and waited for Moore to return home after the war.

John Francis Moore enlisted from Calgary on October 19, 1916 and served as a driver in the 31st Battalion. His wife Malvina Moore and three daughters moved back to Ottawa, where they previously lived, and waited for Moore to return home after the war. Once he returned, they had four more children and Moore operated a shoe repair shop out of their home. He later worked as an elevator operator in the Parliament of Canada.

Born in Yorkshire, England, he moved to Canada in 1906 and worked as a bartender in a hotel in Ottawa.

His granddaughter Carol Chenier recalls Moore being a very quiet man that liked his pipe, dog and sports.

He died November 7, 1961 at age seventy-five. He’s buried at the Beechwood Cemetery in Ottawa.
