Project: Why the grizzly bear is so important to the environment

A exploratory discussion on First Nation's view of life and nature inspired by the First Nation storyteller Roy Henry Vickers's work.

What was the most interesting thing you learned about your topic?

The thing that I found most interesting was that the grizzly bear plays such a critical role in the eco-system & environment, both as predator and vital resource provider to the system.

What important lessons have you learned that you want to share with other Canadians?

I would like to share my learning on the First Nation's traditional stories that everything is connected and the importance of respecting all lives. These are the similar views and values emphasized in ancient Chinese culture as well.

How would you compare your life today to the lives of those studied in your project?

People from the old days collected more resource from the nature, and they had more respect to the nature; today people seem to reply more on technologies, and there are more challenges to the environment.

That was one of the most amazing presentations I have ever seen or heard from such a young student. Bravo Shuyou!
