Project: The Spy From P.E.I

My project is about my Great Grandfather: The Spy From P.E.I. He was a spy for the Allies during WWII. My project details his journey from a farm boy in PEI to a spy that works on special operations around the world, particularly at Camp X and for BSC.

What was the most interesting thing you learned about your topic?

That my Great Grandfather parachuted behind enemy lines. I think that that is interesting because I couldn't imagine jumping from a moving vehicle while being shot at.

What important lessons have you learned that you want to share with other Canadians?

That war causes people to do questionable things.

How would you compare your life today to the lives of those studied in your project?

I think our lives today are much easier. We have a lot less work, I think and we also have better resources. In 1943 I wouldn't have been able to do this project simply because I wouldn't have had access to the resources not to mention the fact that the Second World War hadn't finished yet.

I love when young people are proud of their heritage and want to learn more. Oscar is a good example of this.
