Project: Myths and Legends of the Inuit

I am going to look at the legends of the Inuit. I'm going to try and focus on their stories of how things were created. I'll also take a look at their legends about the Spirits of the North.

What was the most interesting thing you learned about your topic?

I really enjoy the story of Sedna, the Inuit girl who was cast into the ocean but then became Mother of all Water Creatures.

What important lessons have you learned that you want to share with other Canadians?

I have learned that the Spirits of all things play a strong role to the Inuit. They believed, that if we do not respect the creatures, then our own lives will be punished.

How would you compare your life today to the lives of those studied in your project?

I grew up learning Myths and Legends, but it was mostly the Greek. I love to learn, especially when it comes to people's beliefs because I am always interested in what they think may have happened. I think that it's important to learn about the Original Peoples' ways of life, because they respected what was around them instead of polluting, manipulating, and remaking the land the way Society does now.
