We pack a lot into the pages of every issue of Kayak, but there’s always more great stuff we just can’t fit in. So join Teeka and Beau, our otter mascots, to find out more about the theme of each issue, or just pick up some random bits of Canadian history.
Tea Parties for Change
Every Canadian needs to know the names of these five women: Henrietta Edwards, Irene Parlby, Louise McKinney, Nellie McClung and Emily Murphy. Why? Because they were the ones who pushed until Canadian women were officially seen as people in their own right, not just as they related to men. The decision came as a result of something called the Persons Case. Check out this video from the Famous 5 Foundation to learn more about how these amazing women changed Canada forever right from the parlours of Alberta.
