We pack a lot into the pages of every issue of Kayak, but there’s always more great stuff we just can’t fit in. So join Teeka and Beau, our otter mascots, to find out more about the theme of each issue, or just pick up some random bits of Canadian history.

Amazing Arctic

There’s so much cool stuff (some of it’s really cool, as in ccccold!) to tell you about Canada’s Far North and the people who explored it that we couldn’t cram everything into the December issue of Kayak. So we’ve put some tidbits here for you to check out.

Exploring the North

Montreal’s McCord Museum (which you should totally check out when you’re there) has a great web exhibition called “Exploration in the Canadian Arctic.” Click Animate on the right side of the screen to watch the presentation.

Inuit Inventions

Have a look at your school or community library for this great book by Alootook Ipellie and David MacDonald. It’s all about the creative things our most northern people came up with first: sleeping bags, snow goggles, frozen food, and our very favourite, the kayak.
