Symbols to Visit

From our flag to our anthem, there are symbols of Canada everywhere you go!

Although there are many roads and a school named for Calixa Lavallée, there is a whole village in Quebec named after the composer who gave us our national anthem. The village of Calixa-Lavallée got its name in 1974. It is located northeast of Montreal and has a population of about 500.

To learn more about our national summer sport, you can visit the Canadian Lacrosse Hall of Fame in New Westminster, B.C. And to discover the history of our official winter sport, there’s the Hockey Hall of Fame in Toronto.

And of course, on Parliament Hill in Ottawa, you can see the Peace Tower, the Centre Block that was rebuilt after the fire of 1916, the Centennial Flame and more.

Finally, the easiest Canadian symbol to see is our cool maple leaf flag. Look around at school, in your town or city and there it is!
