Irish and Chinese Immigration in Canada

Irish and Chinese immigrants are examples of two waves of immigrants back in the 1800‟s and 1900‟s. Despite their different geographical and cultural origin, and the different time frames, their experiences were remarkably similar. Primarily, both the Irish and Chinese immigrants to Canada experienced considerable hardship with respect to their living conditions. Secondly, once they settled in, they were not well received since their cultures were entirely different from the prevailing British and French cultures...  Lastly, both groups overcame the obstacles placed in front of them and made a profound impact on the Canadian identity. Both Irish and Chinese immigrants that settled in Canada persevered and had a huge impact, not only on their own community, but on Canadian Identity
