The Statement That Made The Twentieth Century

“Canada has been modest in its history, although its history in my estimation, is only commencing.  It is commencing in this century.  The nineteenth century was the century of the United States.  I think we can claim that Canada will fill the twentieth century”. This was Wilfrid Laurier’s promising statement and his claim was most certainly correct.  With the stringent ways of immigration changing to accommodate a more open door policy along with the innovations of industrialization and the development of primary resources Canada filled the twentieth century and prospered.  Canada had continuous success and achievements throughout the twentieth century in a way greater than Laurier himself could have predicted.

I chose this question because seeing how Canada functioned and how we came to be where we are now is very interesting to me.
