The Government's Responsibility

‘One of the biggest culture difficulty the Inuit population faces is unintentional discrimination towards them and their culture. Legally the Inuit people are not “First Nation” and are exempted from the Indian Act of Canada. Inuit’s are called “Indians” but the term Indian refers to “First Nation” but Inuit are Inuk, not Indian so they do not have the same benefit as the “Indian” First Nation. Inuit’s are challenging this discrimination and saying the government is at fault for allowing Inuit people to be mixed up with the affairs of the First Nations.
