Past Mistakes, Future Resolutions

As humans we all make mistakes, but those who take responsibility and apologize will assist everyone in moving forward as healthy citizens. When Canadians think of the First Nations people it is often accompanied by the thought that they need to just “get over it”, “it” being the horrendous circumstances that First Nations children experienced in residential schools. In these institutions, countless died and hundreds of children were physically, emotionally and sexually abused. This dark period in our history requires the government to take responsibility for and work it’s hardest to help the still struggling aboriginals become contributing citizens of society.
