Secret Histories: Displacement Stories

For my project, I have specifically chosen to feature stories of displacement. I began my research by looking into the histories of Aboriginal, Chinese, and Black communities in Vancouver. The common theme was that each community had been displaced because of redevelopment or construction of travel routes. I highlighted these histories because they are stories that are often not told. A powerful purpose of learning history is making us more aware of our past mistakes so that they don’t reoccur. By learning about how we were previously non inclusive, we are learning how we can be more inclusive. One by one, we can discover these secret histories so they are not forgotten.
