Self-Government and Aboriginal issues

Because there is so much confusion, trouble and unfairness regarding the [Canadian] Constitution Act [and] the Indian act, many First Nation chiefs want to fix, edit or abolish [them]… “The forms of self-government, where enacted, are diverse and Aboriginal self-government remains an evolving and contentious issue in Canadian law, policy and public life” … [Aboriginal peoples] are trying to heal from [a] dark past and overcome a cruel history… They have been fighting for rights for decades and only achieve little or lose out.
