The Impact of World War 2

‘It is estimated that over 3000 Aboriginal men served during the Second World War. Though they fought alongside soldiers from all across Canada, they faced distinct challenges. At that point in their lives, they spoke neither English nor French and lived in remote communities.  For most, this experience marked their first exposure to the unique customs of the British essentially resulting in cultural shock. In six years, approximately 500 Natives gave their lives, defending the values of those that once rid them of their homes, culture, way of life, etc.
