Frederick “Fred” Ambo

He fought at Vimy Ridge, where he was hit with shrapnel on April 12, 1917 and died of his wounds on April 30 at age 27.


Frederick “Fred” Ambo of Hamilton, Ontario enlisted August 19, 1915 from Hamilton, Ontario. He served as a private with the Canadian Machine Gun Company and the 2nd Machine Gun Company. He fought at Vimy Ridge, where he was hit with shrapnel on April 12, 1917 and died of his wounds on April 30 at age 27.

He left behind over a dozen half brothers and sisters, and his fiancée, Violet Glover.
