Wilbert Robinson Ferguson was born in 1891 in Stayner, Ontario. He enlisted in the 14th Battalion in 1915. At the time, he was training to be a teacher, but Ferguson also had an expert shot and was made a shooting instructor at Shorncliffe Military Camp in England. He quickly rose to the rank of sergeant. He was killed in action on June 3, 1916, in the Ypres Salient in Belgium. His name is inscribed on the Menin Gate, Belgium.
