MLA is not OK

If you have ever read a document with lots of MLA citations you know they can be annoying (famous guys, 86). And while they were probably all your high school English teacher asked you to use, they are not acceptable for any history paper at the university level (good writer, 27).

Historians use Chicago style which means footnotes (or possibly endnotes, but footnotes are better).

Name, Title Italicized, (Publisher Location: Publisher, Year) pagenumber.

It’s all done electronically so it should make things easier for you anyways. While you are typing add your references and simply include the name of the author and the page number at the bottom of the page. Once you are done writing and editing your paper, go back through and update all of you footnotes to include the full amount of information.
