Top Ten Endangered Places in Canada
Each year the National Trust for Canada releases a Top 10 Endangered Places List to bring national attention to sites at risk. The 2016 list will be released on May 26. They are the buildings and structures where history was made — literally. But sadly, many of these important edifices are badly in need of repair.
This year Canada’s History has teamed up with the National Trust to bring you sneak peeks of these sites. In the slideshow above you will see snapshots of a few sites and below you can see the geographic locations for all ten sites. Do you recognize any of these endangered places?
The 2016 list includes: Canada's Wooden Grain Elevators Vancouver's Chinatown Former Royal Alberta Museum, Edmonton Spaca Moskalyk Ukrainian Catholic Church, Lamont County, AB Saskatchewan's Prairie Grasslands Nottawasaga Lighthouse, Collingwood, ON Gibson Isolation Hospital, Belleville, ON Saint-Vincent-de-Paul Penitentiary National Historic Site, Laval, QC St. Stephen Post Office National Historic Site, St. Stephen, NB Harbour Grace Court House, Harbour Grace, NL
