Magna Carta Canada needs your help!
Magna Carta Canada, a non-profit charitable organization, is bringing an original copy of the Magna Carta and its companion document, the Charter of the Forest, to Canada for a four-city Canadian travelling exhibition in 2015 in honour of the 800th anniversary of its original issuance in England in 1215. They have spent the last two years navigating the networks of the various U.K. governing bodies to gain approval to borrow these priceless treasures and have been successful in being granted the loan of the documents for six months.
They are raising funds to organize the exhibition, which will encompass three themes: History, Legacy and Justice Today.
The exhibition will launch in Ottawa on July 1, 2015 at the Canadian Museum of Civilization and then in September it will be housed in Toronto at the newly constructed Fort York Visitor Centre. The next stop will be in Winnipeg at the brand new Canadian Museum of Human Rights and then finishing its tour in Edmonton at the Province of Alberta Legislative Assembly Visitor Centre in late fall 2015.
