Project: Stamps and Their Sticky Past

My project is about Canadian postage stamps and how they have evolved from 1840 to today's stamps. Also with today's technology like email and text people are forgetting about the stamps. So I hope when you are done watching this video you will remember to take a second and look at the little stamp in the corner and look at the history and story behind the pretty artwork and design.

What was the most interesting thing you learned about your topic?

The most interesting thing I found out was about the Caribou Hotel stamp which is apart of the Haunted Canada series of stamps. Were I learned about a small hotel in the Yukon with big scares.

What important lessons have you learned that you want to share with other Canadians?

Stamps teach people about important landscapes, culture, sports, and people. Like Kay Livingstone who changed many lives, or the Paralympic stamp which teaches us to focus on peoples ability's.

How would you compare your life today to the lives of those studied in your project?

Buying a stamp may sound easy today, but it was not always this easy. First people would have to find there nearest Post Office which was hard because there were very few Post Offices. Unlike today were you can buy stamps at: Drug Stores,Supermarkets and online. Finally your letter may not get delivered for weeks because of gravel or dirt roads and slow transportation. Today we have planes, better roads and faster vehicles. So that little stamp can travel the world in days.
