Project: Truth and Reconciliation

My project is on Truth and Reconciliation. I look at what reconciliation is, why we need to reconcile and how it is happening in our country.

What was the most interesting thing you learned about your topic?

When I met with Elder Crowshoe I learned how First Nation people lost their sense of belonging and culture in our community.

What important lessons have you learned that you want to share with other Canadians?

I have learned about some of the lasting effects and consequences of how we treated Indigenous people in the past.

How would you compare your life today to the lives of those studied in your project?

I am very fortunate to be living in a country where we try to see people as equal and be inclusive. I get to come home every night and be with my family after school and I am free to practice my culture and faith.

Nycea, you have great poise and pronunciation in your speaking. Well done. I am encouraged to know that students like you are making it a priority to heal the wounds and divisions between people groups in Canada. You are a world-changer!! God's heart is for love and active compassion from every people and nation toward every people and nation. I love seeing you spread this Kingdom of Love and Unity.

Our entire population, needs to understand, all people need to be treated with respect. None of us had any choice regarding where we were born, or the culture into which we were born.
