Fair address: Saskatoon Regional Saskatchewan Youth Heritage Fair

Project: Banff Canada's First National Park

My project examines Banff's history, culture and what it is today.

What was the most interesting thing you learned about your topic?

There were internment camps set up in the 1st and 2nd World War for prisoners of war and conscientious objectors (people opposed to the wars). My great grandpa was in one of these camps and helped build many important things within the park.

What important lessons have you learned that you want to share with other Canadians?

Banff was the start of all National Parks in Canada. It has a rich history and contributes billions of dollars to Canada's tourism economy.

How would you compare your life today to the lives of those studied in your project?

People in the past had to work very hard to make Canada the great place it is today. We take many of the things we have for granted.
