Project: The Journey of the Potato

This project is about the history of the potato and its journey to Prince Edward Island.

What was the most interesting thing you learned about your topic?

The most interesting thing for me was the fact that there are over 4000 types of edible potatoes.

What important lessons have you learned that you want to share with other Canadians?

I've learned how important potatoes have been across places and time, but at the same time I've learned how hard it was for the potato to become one of the five most important crops on our planet.

How would you compare your life today to the lives of those studied in your project?

An advantage for my life today is that I can get information on the nutrients of food regardless of its looks. But the people back then had the opportunity to eat foods which were not exposed to so many chemicals.

Wonderful job Karla! I liked how you changed the mood with both the music and dressing up in what they wore in that time or place. I also liked how you told it like a storybook! I never imagined the potato to be so important to Canada's, and Europe's history. I will remember your video whenever I eat a potato!

    P.S. Cute dog!

Karla, what an impressive job on a universal topic. Content very well researched and captivating with map, drama and costume. Sound effects drew me in. You gave just enough information to keep us hooked on the potato and want to taste them. Great promo for the Island. Your dog's presence brought calm yet drew the audience to pay attention. Loved it you will get first prize and I'm so proud of you! Great job with Technology as well. Mme F 10/10
