James Douglas Smith

James Douglas Smith of Smithsville, Nova Scotia enlisted in 1915 and served as a private with the 40th Battalion.


James Douglas Smith of Smithsville, Nova Scotia enlisted in 1915 and served as a private with the 40th Battalion. After the war, he lived in Shelburne, Nova Scotia, and married Minnie Mae Thomas. The couple had four kids—Maynard, Harry, Jennie, and Janice. Smith was very active in the community as a member of the church, Canadian Red Cross, and legion. Smith died November 25, 1976, and Thomas died on May 3, 1976.
